Learn to fly fish : General

Q : What advantages does learning to fly fish on a moving stream have over a course entirely taught on a still water stocked pond?

A :
Imagine this... trying to pass your drivers exam with your only experience is driving in a parking lot. How much more confident would you feel if you spent the same amount of time on the moving road systems of your local neighborhood. Now I ask you - could you go back to to the parking lot and park your car - I think you know the answer. Add this to the fact that most pond courses run with 4 plus students per instructor. After 20+ years of introducing 100's of students per year to the world of fly fishing I have come to one conclusion "the smaller the classes the better" this assures the best results!

Q : Where do you stay when fishing in the Elora Fergus area?

A :

We love this small town atmosphere we offer our clients. Many of clients have asked us to stop telling others - they want to keep this spot all for themselves. Here are a few of the places to lay your head at the end of a hard but enjoyable day on the river.

Q : Why do you not do group fly fishing lessons?

A :

First let us make sure we are talking about the same thing. Groups to us are when one instructor is demonstrating or talking fly fishing to more than four people. As our web site states our success comes from low ratio learning. We also believe in you do it, we will now guide you to do it right. In large groups this is not easily done. There is always a client that demands way more attention and the rest of the students suffer - you all paid the same price. Now we do large groups but we call these corporate eventsyet we still keep the instructors to student ratios very low.

First let us make sure we are talking about the same thing. Groups to us are when one instructor is demonstrating or talking fly fishing to more than four people. As our web site states our success comes a from low ratio learning. We also believe in you do it, we will now guide you to do it right. In large groups this is not easily done. There is always a client that demands more attention and the rest of the students suffer - this is not fair -- you all paid the same price. Now lets make sure we are not talking about a corporate event because we definitely like doing these large group events.  We do however break into smaller teams for all the education and time on the water part of our exciting day.
